We collected the eggs from our goose for the same reason. I put them in the refrigerator in the garage because I read somewhere that they needed to stay above freezing and below 70 degrees and that was the most stable environment we have. We haven't given them back just yet, so I am not sure...

If anyone in New England is looking, we hatched 4 females this spring that we will be looking to sell before winter sets in. They were hatched naturally and raised outside with Mommy & Daddy. They hatched on June 11th.

If they are eating anything but feed, make sure you are providing grit as well. Otherwise, you don't need to do anything other than what you would do for chicks right now. Provide food, water, clean dry bedding, a heat source and enough room to get out from under it. When they get a little...

I am too excited not to share. We were able to trade one of our two males for a female in April. Once we got them set up with a nesting area outside and let her begin keeping her eggs, she ended up with 5. One disappeared (possibly broken in the nest, but I didn't see any shell) so she had 4...

Update - We were able to locate someone with a similar problem - 3 females and lost their male, so we are going to make a trade in the next week or so. Marcus will have a new home with plenty of room to roam and George with finally have someone to love!

My biggest concern with ordering pairs is that I won't be able to rehome the males. I also wouldn't want to raise them together because I want the females to pair with my existing males (we've gotten rather attached) and wouldn't want them to bond with the male goslings.

I checked and they don't sell Pilgrims. Some of the other mail order hatcheries will sell females only, but only certain breeds, none of which are Pilgrim.

Does anybody know of a source for pilgrim geese in New England? I am in desperate need of two female pilgrims to pair with the two males I have now. I have looked online and I can only find straight run or pairs and I don't need any more males. I am willing to take goslings or adults as long...

I am definitely leaning toward male, but what is confusing is the smaller size & dark eyes. I may have to find a vet that can sex it for me before spring. I guess instead of one pair, we will have two. Now if we could just get them to get along with all of the ducks!

Does anybody know if female pilgrims can be more white than gray? Or not get most of their gray feathers until after their first molt? We bought a replacement goose after we lost the female in our pair and we thought we got lucky and got a female, but now we are thinking Martha might be a...

So, what would you suggest for housing if we house them separately? I can't afford to to go out and spend several hundred or more on another shed. The plan for next spring was to have a large doghouse or other shelter for them to nest in separate from the ducks. Can I use a setup like this...

Keeping them separated during the day is not a problem. We put up a second pen last summer when we were thinking about getting drakes for the ducks so that we could separate the flocks by breed. We just hadn't gated it yet. That was done last night. George has been sleeping with the adult...

I have a question for those who own both geese and ducks. I am new to geese this year and have a concern about my gander. We ordered a pilgrim pair this spring as they are suppose to be a more docile and smaller breed. The auto sexing is a great plus as well. Unfortunately we lost the goose...

If they are pilgrims, the white one would be the gander (male). Pilgrim ganders are mostly white with a little gray. Mine is gray at the end of his tail and wing feathers and otherwise entirely white. The females are mostly gray. It is hard to tell with your photo because of the sunlight.

I have the opposite problem. My 7 week old gosling, George, likes to "help" herd the ducks, which pretty much means he chases them around the yard with his wings out. (We lost our goose at 4 weeks old, so he has spent a lot of time with us, especially at night). They tried to intimidate him...

So here is what we have been feeding ours: Manna pro unmedicated starter feed for the first 3 weeks with the occasional "field trip" to play and graze outside and to meet the ducks. At 3 weeks we switched them to Purina duck grower and let them spend more time outside. They never really took...

I am the proud owner of a 4 week old Pilgrim gander. (We ordered a pair, but unfortunately she fell sick suddenly and we lost her. We have a replacement on order (straight run, fingers crossed for a female) along with some ducklings. He is such a bundle of energy but a little lonely right...
