Wait till you get over 50 then realize you want them to breed more next year. Lololol!
Dang that's freaking awesome! I have a nice pair of coops but wow!very nicely done! You may not like your run door size soon though. Hard to get a wheelbarrow in it maybe.
Xs2! I have welded wire fence all around and the top, coon have walked over my run. Do what you you can when you can and good luck. Just locked em up every night.
The coop worker whom gave me my starts has a patch of it probably 40x 40 ft. He uses it for everything! Trapping stakes, shade you name it. He cuts his down every two years and mows around it to keep it from getting larger. It's his bird sanctuary in the mean time. Ifor mine makes it thru our...
Yes you may need to add more vents even if they are only used during the summer. Make covered ones if able. Can't see the ones you have . Our first coop we added more vents for year round use. Another thing with Windows, remove the screens that were in them if you haven't. The dander plugs...
Deb, would you be able to grow any bamboo in your climate? I have a start of some that gets up to 20 ft tall, it's a cane pole type. If you had a wet area or gray water area you may be able to start your own patch of it. Just a thought I had, trying to help.
Keep a broom with a long handle close to clean your vents. The dander will plug off normal screening in no time. But the big blockage to 1/8th inch is feathers. Molt season my windows need bloomed off daily and the lower vents. Very nice coop you have!
Ah, I see now. You move it for fresh foraging. Very cool, I cannot, telephone poles used for my run.we turn ours out in the yard but watch them due to the hawk nest behind our property. The metal around your coop is great too, we have just used 1x2 spaced fencing so the air and mice can move...
Great job on your coop and run! One thing that worries me is the run is open on top, if you can cover it with fence please. Hawks are horrible and yes been there had it happen. Also do you have a dig barrier on the bottom of your panels? (Fence or hardware cloth 18inches out from the panel...
It's raining here! Lots of thunder too. Doesn't sound like much rain yet for a t-storm. We can hear downpours on our roof, only had a minute of one so far. Just hope the wind doesn't pick up.Also I hope you don't get any of it since your beans don't need it.
Weird weather, ummm no rain over a tenth of an inch in over a week. No big spring rains either. OK ohio get with it please! Use to be able to keep two rain barrels full, not even one full. This is like August not June and July. See a rain front pass Fort Wayne but it disappearseems...
Feeders kept in coops here but water is in and out. We turn the kids out to the yard every other day. Plus some of my run fence will let small sparrows get into the run.
Looks good, just hope you plan to raise it. My back hurts thinking of that height. Hope you do not get bitten by...
We have had only 1 rat, thankfully! It was male and not full grown yet. We seen it one night putting the kids to bed. Then set traps even a leg hold one. Hubby finally got it with a pellet gun after sitting out there for almost 2 hours. I do see my birds catch mice too, talk about mayhem...
We like the bucket trap very much! We used a dowel rod for the bottle to spin on and put a small amount of peanut butter in a single line around it. Caught so many mice during harvest time last year. Keep sticky traps and electronic traps inside Stumpys coop as well. Cannot place traps in...
That was my understanding as well.No panel under the cloth in places.I only use hardware cloth for a window and vent cover though. All my fence is welded but I know not everyone can do this.
IMO yes add the welded to the outside of the hardware cloth to strengthen it. Raccoons get big and dogs and coyotes could bend the other. Better to over do in my opinion.
