Ah, that's true. My inbox is never very busy, so I guess I forget what that can be like. :D
Probably too cumbersome a solution to be worth it, but there's probably an alternate mail client that does custom notifications based on sender, or a good RSS reader you could use.
I'd like to know what this mysterious IOS app does that the mobile site doesn't. Is it really so great, or would it just be the mobile site on a different browser with some sort of notification support, asking for a lot of creepy permissions? A lot of website apps do that.
I generally upload to Picasa Web Albums, and copy the image URL. Google plays more nicely with Android than BYC does, so although it isn't quick, it usually works.
Tapatalk is an app, yes. It's designed to allow easier browsing on many forums, but I seem to recall in asking for a ton of permissions, and never started using it myself. The BYC mobile site works just fine for me for browsing, and it is possible to post images hosted from other sites.
One way is to switch to the BBcode editor on the desktop site and select all the smilies you like. That way you can view all the codes, because they won't show up as pictures.
And technology has marched on. If you buy the cheapest Gingerbread phone you can find, you'll get much poorer results than if you buy a $600+ iPhone. But if you do some research and get a modern-ish Android with good reviews, you'll have way fewer problems.
Droids weren't released until 2008. :P
Not sure if older Droids were less reliable, but my phone has never given me major trouble. I can't remember the last time it crashed or froze, so I assume it was a long time ago.
Plus although I don't like Google as much as I once did, I'm pretty sure...
Actually, BYC has some pretty good notification settings that could do this stuff for you, and it's possible to set up a homescreen shortcut to let you reach the mobile site faster.
Homescreen shortcut: Some Android devices add this widget to their stock app selection, otherwise a few quick...
I find that the mobile site works just fine for me (it's pretty user friendly, plus I can block images with Firefox to make it faster and save data), and email notifications are good enough on my phone. I could even add a home screen bookmark if I wanted to pretend I was using an app!
Oh, and I...
