Life is changing for us, and it is not for a positive reason

Why? Unless she wants to share what is going on in her life, it really isn't anyone's business.

I agree with you to a point. But too many smokers fail to consider that while smoking is optional, breathing is mandatory. In a smoke filled room, I simply cannot breathe. There are businesses here I do not patronize for just that reason.

Life is changing for us, and it is not for a positive reason

Smoking is very bad both for the smoker and those around them. Both my parents died from the effects of it. My dad died of emphysema, and my mother died of a lung condition caused by exposure to cigarette smoke. But if a person cannot quit, and a few can't, there is an alternative. Do not...

Life is changing for us, and it is not for a positive reason

With this, as with most terminal illnesses, life expectancy is a WAG (wild *** guess) at best. My mother had a very severe and progressive lung condition (which I could never spell, let alone pronounce), combined with a progressive, and debilitating heart condition. She lived a full two years...

My elderly mother was terrified about dying and leaving some messy closets.

Little babies I can handle. Toddlers are another story. I have never been up to wrangling them. I learned early on that they were much smarter, much faster, and much more energetic than I would ever be. I take my hat off to mothers.

Stress can make the mind work in bizarre ways. Even when you think you are being perfectly rational and have all your wits about you. A person can only cope with so much at a time, and beyond that the mind, or what's left of it, seems to shut down a bit. I think it's called survival mode.

Debi, Your life and your emotions are on a roller coaster. It is not surprising that you have your ups and downs. This is small comfort, but none of us knows how much time we have on this earth. We all have a limited amount of time, but most of the time we don't think about it at all. The...

It is not a matter of strength so much as leverage. And that is true for many things. For instance, I used to haul goat milk to the creamery in 10 gallon cans. Now milk weighs about 8.6 pounds per gallon and the milk can itself weighs close to 10 pounds, so that's about 96 pounds per full...

Believe me, you can do it if you are mad enough. I have. It is amazing what a little adrenaline can do. None of my own bucks would ever have DARED to butt me, but I had a visitor who was spoiled and had never been taught any manners. He butted me. Once. I reached down under his belly...

Two suggestions. One, check out www.flylady.net. She can help you get your life and your house under control a little bit (fifteen minutes) at a time. Second, go talk to hospice. For yourself, not Ken. A good hospice can give you the tools, or tell you how to find them, to get through what...

I am so very sorry. My dad had emphysema and so did one of his sisters. I don't know what to tell you. My prayers are with you.
