RAMP TOO STEEP FOR SENIOR ROOSTER-NEED HELP!

I want to thank each and everyone one of you that expressed your concern and shared your advice and suggestions for Kingy. Your thoughtfulness and kindness have not only helped me to work through this but also, with Kingy. It was my neglect in not caring for the coop and Kingy until I saw him...

RAMP TOO STEEP FOR SENIOR ROOSTER-NEED HELP!

Wow, tree stumps - how unique. My Kingy will not be able to jump as he doesn't hop or fly up on a pole anymore much less try to grip or curl his toes. Hope your 6 yr old recovers.

Yes, many roosters here are used for such. He must have escaped and wandered onto our property. He came with an older rooster, a Rhode Island Red. We go to our local farm store and over the years learned about types of feed. There's a mix of some corn (not a whole lot), lots of seeds...

RAMP TOO STEEP FOR SENIOR ROOSTER-NEED HELP!

I'm so proud of this boy. He's been through so much and have always returned to our place at the end of the day. But when we took him on as a pet (sort of), I didn't know how to care for him until he started showing signs. We trimmed back his spurs just a little only after noticing his...

RAMP TOO STEEP FOR SENIOR ROOSTER-NEED HELP!

He was feral and only within the last 5 years we've decided to catch him and used our unused dog kennel for he and his other mate (that have passed). To not stress him out, while sleeping in the coop, we are able to put him into a crate. In the morning we administer his meds and put him back...

No, never. She also said injuries could have been from old wounds or some kind of trauma and now they're showing up. This is so true - since Kingy lived in the wild, he was hunted several times by other aggressive roosters and attacked numerous times from dogs. He would always show up in our...

Oops - I meant a .5mg Prednisolone tablet given half of it per day up to 2 weeks. Vet didn't mention anything about weening off though.

Oh, thank you for your suggestion! BTW - the vet prescribed Prednisolone. It's a 5mg tablet but to give half of it/day for 2 weeks. At first she said one week but changed it to two. I really hope this will help. Do you know much about it? He just started taking it yesterday (Monday). Today...

RAMP TOO STEEP FOR SENIOR ROOSTER-NEED HELP!

My Kingy is around 10-11 years old. He is having difficulty bending his legs. His vet said his joints are inflamed; arthritis. It pains me to see him struggle everyday. He spends most of his time just laying down as it takes a lot of effort to get up. And when he does, he is unstable and at...
