Great. One of my hens went broody. Every day I move her off the nest and she just gets back on. It was fine when it was just her, but now another hen is broody! :barnie
It was pouring rain today, and the girls were not happy! I laid downs some sod the other day, and they absolutely love it! About 50 degrees here, but the chickens preferred it when it was 70! :)
I cannot believe I am 108 posts behind!! I have three pullets, and today, they laid five eggs. I collect the eggs daily, so is it possible for a chicken too lay 2 eggs in 24 hours?
When I tell my chickens to the food and not hog it all, I do not mean to also share the nesting boxes. My poor girl was trapped behind her sister. Oh, and my RIR finally started laying again! I discovered four eggs, and I have three chickens. Two from my RIR and 1 from the other two. I check...
I have not replied in a while! MC, duckling is adorable! I was on a vacation, but I had to cut it short when my pet sitter called and said my pullet had a bald spot. I am not sure if it is mites, or some one is plucking out her feathers.
I guess I haven't posted in a while. I have been so busy reading it! My poor rhode island red hates the cold temperatures. I am considering moving her into the basement.
Well, my pullet no longer has frostbite. I rubbed vaseline on all of their combs, except one because she doesn't trust anyone, even when she is roosting. It was really wet and rainy, but now it is dry. The coop still has mice in it.
Cheeka, I am sorry to hear about that.
I am worried about my pullet. She obviously has frostbite. She has stopped laying, and does not like to leave her coop because it is cold outside. I tried to put vaseline on her comb, but I will have to wait untill she roosts.
Well, I have a bird with frostbite. The problem? I have a bird that has frostbite that needs to let me get close enought to put vaseline on her comb. I have been trying the last few days. She will not let me tough her. Not even pie would make her let me tough her. Aside from that, the people who...
Well, I have a mouse infestation in the coop. There were mice in the area of the coop long before I had the chickens, then they went away when I got the girls! Or so I thought. It wouldn't be so bad, except that they have moved in to the house. Good thing I found a closet filled with old mouse...
You know, at least English does not give genders to objects. And, there is only one word for the! In German, you have Der, Das, and Die all mean 'the'! Can anyone explain why the word for boy is masculine and yet the word for girl is a neauter noun? Where as woman is feminine. Oh, and if it is...
