How is everyone doing? How about your Easter hatches? Are they all integrating and feathering out? Ours are feathered, mostly, but aren't fully integrated. They sleep in the rabbit den, so I can't get them up roosting with the adults. All of the hens are laying again, but one is broody...

mmdeford - to be 100% sure, it would take a few months and the cost would be $75 each for an English Black Orpington (non-laying) pullet. For a good guess, it would take a few weeks and the cost would be $30 and for an unsexed day old chick it will cost $10. The cost difference is based on food...

I plan to have an Easter hatch, if my hens agree and go broody around that time. The ones that do hatch will be unsexable, meaning that I won't be able to determine their gender as they are not sex linked chickens. We have a few options available. I can sell them as unknown gender (straight...

As far as prices go, eggs are the cheapest option and a sexed hen the most expensive. The blk orps are pure English therefore not a mutt or mixed breed. They've been bred for show quality, tenting, color, etc. I love mine! They are great layers, go broody, and make great mamas! Their temperament...

The Aracaunas that I had were very loud as 2 females, but when I gave them to a friend and they were with a male they weren't nearly as squawky. They do not do well confined and are somewhat aggressive toward others! I'm not sure where you are located, but Farm & Fleet, feed stores, and local...

I have to suggest against aracaunas if you don't want a lot of chatter. they are VERY talkative. Otherwise orps are great and go broody frequently if you plan to hatch your own and they are great mothers.
