My RIR/BO chick hatched today!! It was working on the zip all evening and night lastnight. Another little blondie (at least till feathers come in I guess!). So I did get 3 out of 4 of my own eggs hatched. And 6 turkens. No more in bator at the moment. Still waiting on blue turken eggs to be...

Are you doing dry incubation? I never had good luck with that. Ended up with my twisted foot chicken then. 1st batch hatched 0/13, then 1/14. For Brinsea bators, their instructions say 40-50% during incubation. Up to 60-70% when see 1st pip. My 1st thought when you mentioned twisted foot...

Quote: I used a mug that wasnt too wide or too small, but tall enough to keep chick in. Just set it inside the mug upright on its feet. It could lay down, but only by lowering itself...couldnt stretch out or lay on side. Does your chick have a twisted foot?? yeah both of her feet are twisted...

Quote: I've never heard of this. Can you explain? I have a few that are having trouble standing, and one whose feet look twisted. Thanks! The twisted feet might be fixed by using a band aid shoe. I found all my info for that by doing a search here. Well, the turken was over on its...

Im happy to report that my black turken hatchling that couldnt stand up on its own, is standing up and walking today. I had him/her in the coffee mug for nearly 24 hrs and it worked. Was a little wobbly on the feet when I took him/her out, but it hadnt been able to walk around being in the mug...

I went and removed the shell and membrane in the zip formation. The black chick got out on its own but looks like has swollen bottom side (maybe it just had absorbed the yolk?). So it is up and moving around in the morning. No pips in the other 2 turken eggs or my other RIR/Red Star egg Now...
