Tail looks wide enough..nice lacing and it should improve with age..the whole bird will improve with age. Ask again in 6 months.. You already know this bird does not fit into the sop yet. He is beautiful..he is not Wyandotte type yet. Could he mature enough to fit in? Possibly.

Every one of my Wyandottes is broody..even my Silver laced They all layed through the winter and now are taking a break. With the Easter hatch coming around the corner if I can't break them, I will at least be putting them to work.

A buff laced Wyandotte? I have never seen one before..I would not know for sure what it is to be honest. I do not see wattles..with out wattle pictures..I am no help for sexing.

I would use this bird over the splash..your instincts are spot on!! It is much easier to darken that red than to remove that white. Your splash have a white ring around the neck and it is difficult to remove . They are both beautiful. It really depends on what your goals are..If your intentions...
