Good news! I do not have to do the deed. They have (probably...it isn't set in stone until they leave the property) found a new owner. I'm so happy. They followed me around chatter all day. And my guilt level is high.
The one I practiced my chiropractic skills on @David61 seems fine, though he...
I actually put "for meat" in the ad and disclosed that he doesn't play well with others or with the hens. He might be fine in a flock as a lone rooster but my girls dont care much for him so I doubt it.
It's a shame that roosters make up 50% (or in my case 60%+) of a hatch. It's a shame that they aren't rare. It's also a shame that people don't keep them for pets, like they do dogs and cats. They really are fun to have around.
Thank you. I will have to wait till tonight or early morning as he is out free ranging now. He followed me from the house to the mailbox today. He was almost hit by a truck. Stupid me, I was yelling for him to get off the hwy the whole time. Lol. He is like a puppy. A puppy that kills chickens...

I put an ad (for free roosters) on Craig's list but no takers so far. It's a shame. He is such a sweetie.None of these boys are human aggressive. I was hoping if I kept them away from the hens they'd get along but I guess not. 😞
Omg. Yesterday was stressful. Today is worse and it's only 8:30 a.m.
I have four 22 week old cockrels. They are beautiful and friendly. I've been meaning to get rid of them but I've procrastinated because they ARE beautiful and friendly. Friendly to people that is.
Yesterday one of them (the...
