Kiki, thanks for this project, it is fascinating and informative.
My market area is very limited but it would be great to have access to soy free, corn free, organic feed. The closest I've come to that was a 150 mile round trip drive and the feed was mixed grains. My girls billed through for...
We love where we live as well. It is an Ag area but the in-town feed mill sells by the ton <G>. That does not work for a small, non commercial, flock so I've never inquired about what they sell for poultry.
The closest feed store for me is 45 miles one way. The "boutique" store is 75miles in...
thank you! it is interesting to see the comparison of All Flock and Starter side by side. We speculated the big girls might be attracted to the higher protein in the starter feed.
Except for the sodium content, and the protein, I am not seeing a significant difference between the two feeds. More...
Very interesting. Part of my process of integrating the 5 week olds with the one year olds has been to open the grow out pen for a short time. The big girls can't wait to get in there and clean up spilled grower crumble. Same brand as their "All Flock" but they seem ravenous for it.

Nutrena All Flock
ETA we use this because we have various ages and one pullet who did not lay. And now there is a cockerel, I hope.
If we had a mixed flock (ducks, turkeys etc) this is what would be fed.
Oyster shell on the side, chick grit for the littles. The big girls free range.
