Hi Sarniedaz, thanks for letting us know how it´s all going. I was only wondering about you last week. Do you see mating behaviour yet? The gander makes a lot of noise usually when they mate in the water. It´s unmistakable.
Does she already have a nest-site that you know of? Once she starts...
Also the length of day makes a small difference, like the flowers (couple of weeks difference between south and north)...but Jan/Feb could see it all happening for you! Have fun! More pics yet?
What a lovely story, and thank you for updating us. You´re so caring in building her a little place for her to hide.
It still isn´t impossible that goose is a goose, as a couple of females can behave like a true pair, even doing the mating action. Or, of course, a true pair......Goose following...
Well done Sarniedaz!!!!!!! You did really well...love the pics, please send more......they look great together....geese are so happy with other geese! How did you come across her? How did Goose react when you first brought Girlie back?
I don´t see it, serv....some breeds have quite a "stop" like this one....looks to me very much like West-of-England. Which, of course, isn´t a million miles from Doncaster. She´s very ´pretty, I´m dying to know if she has a friend yet.........
Well, I lived near the Kennet and Avon Canal, so I know how it works a bit. Hope you have success at the fair and I´m so looking forward to seeing pics and hearing of your success. So is everyone else, I´m sure. It´s very sweet what you´re trying to do.
Do you always feed Goose in the water, or is there a place near your mooring where she comes onto the bank for food? Maybe you´d be able to introduce the new-comer to this area, feed it, get it used to you, better still if Goose isn´t around at this point, and then Goose can find her own way to...
Lovely, isn´t it pleasant watching them on a large body of water?! There are lots of lakes around us, and a number of them have ferral geese swanning around on them, very graceful. So, looking at this photo, I really couldn´t guess as to whether Goose or his/her friend would be male or female...
In England there are, of course, foxes, and the odd stray dog, but there are a lot of people that keep geese in parks and gardens...pred threat isn´t anything like it is in the US, even here in Brazil, it´s nothing like in the US from what I´ve read on the threads! Also, they´ve been around the...
Sorry, didn´t say that any breed or cross-breed of goose that you´ll find on a farm nearby would do fine.
Nice how she has taken to you and that you´re enjoying her. Does she have a name?
Hi Sarniedaz.
Geese love baby things!
Do you know anyone near who has geese to sell? I don´t know Doncaster too well, but there must be a number of ´people who keep geese around there. The goose that has made friends with you is probably a cross-breed, but she has a touch of West-of-England...
Hi Sarniedaz, how kind of you to want to help the goose. It looks more female than male to me, just the carriage, but can´t say for sure.
Assuming it´s a male, then getting a female would be great, but same sex most likely wouldn´t be, obviously.
Assuming it´s a female, same sex would give...
