    Washingtonians Come Together! Washington Peeps

The paint is chipping on my house and pump house and the chickens, ducks and geese all peck at it. If you figure out a solution, lower me know! It hasn't killed them yet but it is very irritating!

Haha, I wondered how you got that answer! I would've taken you up on your offer if that was true!

NO KIDDING! That's another reason why I was thinking of ordering sexed chicks. I had 6 Silkies at one time and only had 2 pullets! Grrr!

Now that you say that, I seem to remember someone on here from Yakima. I'm thinking about getting 7 more girls. I have 9 but two are mini roo-dudes. I had a rash of terrible luck this year and lost several to varying reasons. I also want to get 2 more young duckettes to keep my drake...

I did check and the closest place that has anything I want is Yakima, which I am considering if I figure out that the gas will be cheaper than the shipping charges ;) I think I may check with Farmer's Exchange, as suggested above, also. Hi Totalcolour! I see that it says you...

    Washingtonians Come Together! Washington Peeps

I'm just not aware of any near me. Plus there is the sexing issue. I've had terrible luck when picking straight run and I always worry when selling extra roosters that they are going to be used for illegal and torturous activities. I guess I can just process them, now that I know I can...

Unfortunately, I am not in a position financially or geographically to get layers this year from breeders and would like to avoid Chick Day at the feed store, so I need opinions on the best and worst hatcheries. Input??? Geez, on second thought, with $47 shipping costs, which is what...

Haha, I do know where your place is! I thought it was great that you put lights on your coop and remarked about it to my husband when I first saw it! Sounds like you have an awesome variety!

WELCOME! You must be a fellow Finley-an, Finleyite or whatever we call ourselves in the Kennewick sticks! Your name cracks me up!!! I grew up here, moved to Richland for a few years, then ended up buying a house in Finley (more for your money ;) Do tell what kind of birdies you...

So, Totalcolour, do you just keep taking the goose off the nest or do you have to put her in a separate cage/area like a broody hen?

    Washingtonians Come Together! Washington Peeps

My goose has been sitting on her nest for a week now :/. The last two days the gander has joined her. This is not an ideal time of year for this silliness! They are hatchery Africans(?) and are not even a year old so I was not even expecting eggs until spring. Anyone with goose experience...

I, too, enjoy the smell of sagebrush! It makes me sad that so much of it is gone in our area. Stupid non-native tumbleweeds seem to outnumber the sage now. It is awesome when I see people who landscape around it rather than bulldoze thru it!

I sometimes feel that way about my neck of the, uh, sagebrush!

Wow, I'd be in shorts too, hahaha! I do enjoy winter, just not sudden big drops on the thermometer. It would be nice if we had longer Spring and Autumn weather here
