Mark, if that's you in the avatar the girls must go crazy. You look
like you belong on a CD cover dude. Are you some famous lead
singer from a boy band and holding out on us?
The coolest part is, he is such a sweetie he doesn't even realize it!!!!
LOL....it is still your computer, Mark. I see you just fine!!!!
Well, we will see how it goes. I will TRY but that doesn't mean I will be able to!!!! Maybe you can encourage me when the time comes!!!! By then you will be snacking on yours.
The 6 to 8 week thing is one reason I think I could do it. Surely I can manage to stay detached for that long!!!!
One thing you could do, the1much, is batter and deep fry a whole plate of them whole and hold them by the legs to eat like tail on shrimp. LOL
Alright then, it is decided. I am going to try quail. Oh my. I may end up standing at the kitchen sink holding a quail and crying my eyes out, then plopping him back in with the rest......but I am going to try this!!!!

I find processing quail to be easy. We only process the spaz birds and
extra mails so that makes it easier too. The calm hens that eat oatmeal
from my hand are in the clear.
Everything can be done right in the kitchen sink with minimal mess.

So you DO find these easier to dispatch than a chicken? I had heard you could use sharp kitchen shears and thought that by the time I started to hesitate it would be over? I almost envisioned myself standing at the sink chopping up little quail. What is the meat like? More like...

WOW I think I need to get some quail!!!!!!
Yeah, Mark, I have met people like that. The whole "you can't eat it if you can't kill it" crowd. I would just go back to being a vegetarian if that were the way it had to be. I did it before, I could do it again.
UGH......I can imagine. If I could just find someone to do the chopping of the head though, I could do the rest. I used to help my ex-husband process fish, turtles, all sorts of stuff. I would just go inside while he did the killing part and come back out and help.
That is pretty cool. I actually thought about gettting some quail thinking I would be able to process them where I can't my chickens. *SIGH* Then I looked at how pretty they are. So, if I ever got any for "food" the only food would end up being their eggs.
Oh my those are beautiful!!!! ALMOST makes me want quail. Can you eat their eggs????
ETA....yes, I KNOW the eggs are tiny, but maybe you could do like a 20 egg omelette or something?
