I think I might have a beer with my chickens when they move in. Are you planning on using the flourescent lighting? If so, I read somewhere that that might be a problem. Not sure if thats what you meant or just that you had the pwr supply already. Thanks BTW for the compliments.
The fan is located under roof so no water will get itno the coop. it will vernt out of the open (wired) side under the run. As far as earth contact goes. it is built on treated lumber. and the white panels are actually roofing panels. There are approx. 40 screwws per 2x8 panel.
Well Im almost there. Here are the lates pics.
The pop door is going to be automatic when I get the money
I have three roost. I hinged the top and have an I hook on the bottom. when I lift it up to clean, I will connect it to a chain hanging from the ceiling.
I read everywhere on here...
Im curious if I should make the opening for my nesting boxes smaller. I thought about covering them with plywood and cutting about a ten inch diameter circle for the entry way to each one for them to get into it. Any thoughts?
The coop is 5X6 and the run totals 5X12. As far as the leaking hinges, you areexactly right. I am currently looking for a piece of roofing felt or something like that. The window hasnt been a problem. Hopefully I will finish this week and will post the final pics. Thanks for the comments.
Maybe you can answer the prvious post. Does the white get very hot in the run. My thoughts when I bought it where it would let in the light but keep out alot of the heat. Besides I think that the chickens arent going to mind the heat as long as they are in the open air. Your thoughts?
Im only two thirds finished. The roof you see is only temporary to keep the rain off the top of the coop. The roof will have 1.5 feet overhang on all sides and will be constructed with tufftex corrigated white roofing. I will post the final pics later. Thanks for the critique.
I hope to have it finished in a couple more weekends. Im going to prime and paint it and spice it up with some decoration of some sort. Thanks for all the positive comments
I am new to the chicken business and decided to build a coop. I am about two thirds complete. I still lack the roof (white corregated roof panels), as well as the pop door, roost, wire etc. Just wanted your thoughts. I will post more as I complete. FYI the roof panel you see is only for...
