Mine did start up laying again. Not as much as before, but i am getting enough that i am giving someone near me, who is doing the NYD hatch, some eggs.
Not used to nothing, my Langshans slow down a little, but don't outright quit laying. Geez, was hoping to set some Holland eggs for this years NYD hatch, but I guess that won't be happening!
Woot woot! Hatching day here! So far 6 from my eggs and 6 from smoothmule's eggs, with more pipping! P.S. @ Cross Creek...used both my brinsea mini advanced and Octagon 20 this time. Awesome results.
SOP says yellow. All of mine are a pale yellow, hens and roos. Honestly not sure if they are supposed to be brighter yellow or not. Anyone else have any idea?
Took 2 cockerels and 2 pullets out to the poultry shows in Bath, NY this past weekend. Lots of birds entered but mine were the only Barred Hollands there. Trying hard to get this breed back out there. I plan on getting to the Sussex NJ, Maryland and VA Poultry Breeders shows this fall if...
I started with a brinsea mini advanced and love it. Easy to use, reliable. Only holds 7 eggs though. I recently did upgrade to the octagon 20 but havent used it to hatch yet. Almost all of my Lanshan hens are broody right now, bantam and LF, so no need for the Octagon 20 at the moment, lol. Cant...
Woot woot! 1st pullet egg yesterday, it was nice and white. Got a picture of it next to a store bought white egg.
Store bought egg on top, Holland pullet egg on bottom.
I'll second that! Welcome Cross Creek. I will be happy to help with eggs as soon as mine mature enough to start laying. Should be any day now! I am already thinking of future hatches such as the NYD hatch! Can't wait for an incubator full of BH eggs! Welcome too the addiction!
Yes it is! Congrats!
My birds came from white eggs, i agree, white egg swap only. Can't wait. Tomorrow getting birds critiqued and deciding which cockerels to keep.
