I have lavenders one male one female (I think) I hatched them from shipped eggs. She should have started laying already but haven't. So maybe shes just a quiet Roo lol.
I came outside today no Sophie no chicks. My dh says I think I saw her by the barn?! I went looking and found her teaching them how to dust bathe by the garage. It was cute to watch. An incubator doesn't show you these things. :)
This is the first time for Sophie and for us with a chicken hatching her own. So all of this is new to us. She's doing great mothering the chicks.
I didn't candle either one I should have. They still didnt hatch so I am going to just egg-topsy them tomorrow and get an answer as to what happened.
Thats wonderful news. I am worried about the incubator chick being outside twice I had to put him with her because he was alone. I hope he stays with her tonight. Also still nothing from the two zipped eggs. :(
Well I was trying to attach a pic of Sophie with the post but it wont let me will have to share pics tomorrow.
I came out to find Sophie and 3 lil chicks. And two more partially hatched eggs alone. I moved the chick that hatched yesterday out with her. I took the two eggs that had zipped but...
So i have two ducklings and 4 barred rock chicks. I lost the chick that I found on his back this morning :(
There is still 7 eggs in the brinsea to hatch yet. And thank goodness that thing does its own count down because I forgot when I set them.
