Don't want to hijack the thread Highlander, but I sincerely hope we, on both sides of the border, will still be standing for the same national anthem in the future. Like most 'English' people we have Scottish forbears, and we will always believe that the Union is bigger than the sum of it's parts.
It is customary to stand for the National Anthem in UK. Although I don't think people do at home? Also it is customary to bow/curtsy to a member of the royal family. Not everyone does this though. It's about respect really isn't it? But a sentence keeps popping unbidden into my head...
