The one that was peeping either wasn't stong enough or the shell/membrane were too thick.. Unfortunately, there is no way of knowing until it's too late unless you sit there and help every single chick.. Of course, we all know that would be a very difficult task and most probably would...
Eggtopsied the last five who didn't hatch. Two were fully formed, one had been peeping but never pipped. No idea why. Two looked to have died after lockdown, but yolk wasn't totally absorbed and one was gone prior to lockdown. That one was small.
Somsad on the one who was peeping, crying out...
High temps can be harder on them than low ones... so, I wonder if that spike to 106 wasn't it...
what day was that on?
it's also harder on them to get spikes nearer the end than the first few days when the embryo is just teeny...
how were your bator temps? do you know the eggs were fertile?
it's so frustrating when the do nuthin......
and sad when they do sumthin then die...
but... all you need is one hatch of a cute fuzz butt and it's worth trying it all over again!
(my last try in my new bator went great but they ALL...
I'm very sad about my last five eggs. One was peeping SO loudly yesterday am but no more. Candled last night and see no movement and still nothing this am. It has died.
So we have nine cutie patooties! They are all doing super, learning to run and jump! And of course peck each other!! All are...
PICTURES!!!!!
(my thermometer reads 4 degrees low btw, don't panic!!! :-) as soon as the hatch is over I'll put my 'good' one in there)
We are up to nine now, and one (or more!) are in the bator just PEEPING so loud you can hear them in the Living Room!
tee hee!!!
Just helped one out! Poor thing did an eggcellent job pipping and zipping but couldnt get the lid off!! Turned out it was upside down so didn't quite cut thru all the membrane and didn't have the force needed to push!!! A few picks and out it came! It's in there again learning to walk and...
One more pink egg zipping and sounds like at least two are peeping in there!! I got all the chicks out again this am so it has to be the eggs peeping!! Humidity steady at 75% so I'll give these last six the day to show their purty faces!!

Congrats!! So exciting huh???
On a totally other note, I live in CA now but grew up in MO and my big bro went to MMA for 2-3 years! I know where Mexico is!! Drove home thru pea soup fog once with my mom from a dance! Lots of memories from there!! Lol. It IS a small world!!
Awesome pics!! Mine are downloaded but the new wireless Internet router won't 'talk' to my laptop!!! Argh. Hope to fix when the other household members who are sleeping thru nighttime chick check get UP... How can they sleep during this event ??? I don't get it (shrugs)...
I'm off to bed. Six chicks out so far. Three BCMs and two from pink eggs one from a green egg. One mor BCM zipping. One pink egg pipped and two BCMs rocking and rolling
OMG!!! Got home to find two more chicks two zipped and three pips!!!
We have two pink eggs hatched, one had a yellow gray chick in it, one had a brown black Silverish chick with a bright yellow butt.
Then was a small green egg which had a neon yellow chick!!
We followed that with a BCM and now...
We have two chicks!
yipee!!! I will get pics when I get home, but the kids just got home from school and called!!!
one is brown, one is yellow...
:-)
the brown one came from a big pink egg I showed the pip from earlier!
I'm so excited!!!
I'm hopeful! and will see in just a few hours how it's doing when I get home!
ugh, it's so hard to work during this! I didn't set them til Sat am so they'd hatch on the weekend... next time I'm going for setting on Sunday!!!
my Pip, last night...
oddly this am he has made a crack below that, hmmm... it's the biggest egg, is it a possibility that it's a double yolker? how do I know???
