I don't know about chickens but metronidazole can be very rough on kidneys. Let me get this straight, he isn't eating or drinking and yet he has diarrhea? I am wondering if he is having an adrenal problem. The adrenal glands secrete aldosterone and aldosterone is an antidieuretic. If he...

Milk thistle is the seed of the milk thistle. This is a plant also known as Silymarin which has been shown to bring liver enzyme levels down. I seriously get everything off of ebay. Can you get stuff from ebay in Kuwait? If not, I don't mind ordering for you and shipping to you.

L-glutamine helps to repair mucous membranes, i.e. intestinal lining. Not sure how it does this but it has been shown to be effective. B. subtilis or Bacillus subtilis is a probiotic which has been shown to be more effective against coccidia than coccidiocidal drugs.

I have used it for Mareks birds when they go into liver failure, it perks them back up almost immediately- gives them a little more quality of life time. I also give it to animals that get really bad from parasites. I've seen it turn yellow/green poop to normal poop in less than a day.

I also like L-glutamine and B. subtilis for bringing them back from the stress of illness. Any thoughts?

Does anyone think that Milk Thistle might help to tip the balance? The original yellow BM kinda screamed out liver distress to me and milk thistle is safe and easy to give and its really really effective.

No, I totally agree that the yellow was not normal, very indicative of liver stress. I was only refering to the blackish one.

Now, if that were a very light green/yellow, diarrhea or formed poo, I would worry.

This pic wouldn't alarm me at all. Black feces i.e digested blood from small intestine, pancreatic or stomach/crop bleeding would be blacker, greasier looking. This looks like poop from a bird that's been eating insects, dirt and plant matter. A well-hydrated bird for that matter. And...

That is a good question, eggs should be all gone by the end of five days- especially since the standard dosing of fenbendazole is three days. I might suspect resistance and I would rotate onto something else like pyrantel or prazi/moxi. I will ask my boss though.

Can Peafowl get mareks? Mareks birds will become absolutely infested with worms of all kinds and will bounce back after treatment but then go downhill again as the illness progresses. I had a turkey come down with mareks, so I'm assuming that peafowl are the same- they usually don't get it...

Direct fecal smears are less accurate and less likely to show eggs if they have a low level infestation because, unles there is fecal matter right there in the mouth of the rectal sphincter, all you are getting is residue which has been smeared across the wall of the rectum. However, if you do...
