Collapsed egg hanging out of vent

Quick question: We've had snow and low temps. (at night as low as teens). I have not added any supplemental heat and everyone seems to be warm enough. I am noticing a lot of runny poops. Can this be from the cold and snow? Flo (the usual suspect) started molting a few weeks ago, so I've...

Collapsed egg hanging out of vent

Just trying to understand this all: If it is in the soil, what will prevent them from getting sick from it again? I know a certain level is normal, is there something in particular that supports their imune system and prevents higher levels of it or illness?

Collapsed egg hanging out of vent

Heard back from the vet, he said it was a "light infestation". It was a voicemail so I didn't get to ask any questions. It took a few days for him to get back to me and I had already gone ahead and treated them with Corid in their water (first day 2 tsp/gallon and then 1tsp/per gallon for a...

How would you recommend treating coccidia? I was surprised as well that he only recommended the feed and asked for clarification. I mean no disrespect, but he's an "exotic" vet, not necessarily poultry, so maybe it's different. From what I am reading it looks like putting amprollium in the...

btw. She doesn't seem listless and is alert. I'm not convinced that the lack of eating in the house isn't due to the fact that she doesn't like being brought in and separated.

Collapsed egg hanging out of vent

Update on Flo. So we've been doing coconut oil and massage for over a week and her crop is still not emptying in the morning. So yesterday we brought her to the vet. They x-rayed and could see that there was a mass of what looked like grit in her crop but everything appeared to be clear. She...

Collapsed egg hanging out of vent

okay good to know. We've been doing the coconut oil and massage. Afterward it seems to soften up, but in the mornings she still has that hardish ball in her crop. I will keep at it with the coconut oil. She is still active and acting normal. I feel like there is some blockage or something...

Collapsed egg hanging out of vent

A lot of things I've been reading talk about the importance of grit. They do have access to it, but I'm not sure of a good way to ensure that she is eating it. They do free range, although less now that it's dark so early.

Collapsed egg hanging out of vent

In the morning I took her out of the coop before she went down and her crop was hard and round. I gave her olive oil and she drank a little. I waited about 10 minutes and it seemed softer. I massaged downward and it did seem to break up a little although I'm not sure if It went "down".

Collapsed egg hanging out of vent

I am checking her crop first thing in the morning before she has access to food. She seems to be acting normally. She's active, scratching when she free ranges. Definitely drinking although I haven't seen her eat, but I've been at work.

She pooped on a rug so it's a little hard to see. The first two are the same and the last picture is from a few minutes later.

Collapsed egg hanging out of vent

So this morning it felt like she had softball in her crop. I gave her more olive oil and massaged and it definitely seemed to soften and move. Obviously she is having some sort of issue. Any ideas?? She does have access to grit but I don't know if she takes it.
