Woo! Congrats PM. We had a 3 egg day today. Trying to figure out if the frizzle may have laid the other day or if one of the regular layers had an oops...
Rhonda the frizzle turned 25 weeks yesterday. No signs of even thinking about egg laying just yet. I am not complaining though. My late blooming Australorp has become my best layer! She didn't start till almost 30 weeks.
If only one is laying you are probably going to get around 5 eggs per week. Where in Aus are you? Don't forget to come join us over at the Australia thread :)
Just realised that my little girls are 19 weeks today! They seem so much smaller than my layers that the thought of them laying hadn't crossed my mind yet. I'm so excited now!! Hoping to get some blue eggs. Fingers crossed
Thanks W4W! I know what you mean. For over an hour she sat in the nest this morning yelling at the top of her lungs. I shut the window and closed the door to try and contain the noise. Then all of a sudden silence. I opened the door and out she wandered like nothing had happened. Job done! Crazy...
3 Eggs today!! My final big girl laid for the first time at 30 weeks. Noisiest egg layer ever! Looks like I'll be bribing the neighbours with eggs soon
They will take calcium from that dish as needed;) I just put the favourites in pie for my girls. Watermelon base, Greek yoghurt (great for healthy gut), red chilli flakes(supposedly helps getting them laying and sprinkled with sesame seeds and corn :) Whatever your girls fancy!
Got up at the crack of dawn but everyone was already up! All went well :D Checked the babies over and not a mark on them.
They are around 13 weeks but have been able to be seen by the big girls since around 6 or 7 weeks and they have been free ranging together supervised for the past month. The...
2 Eggs today!! :yiipchick
The darker brown is from my Australorp who lays prettyuch every single day. The lighter is from the RIR who seems to take plenty of days off :/
In other news, I have put the babies in with the big girls on their own roost tonight after they had a civil couple of...
2 Eggs today!! The RIR was being ridiculous following me everywhere, trying to get inside the house to the lounge. Crazy chicken!! Turns out she needed to lay an egg:D Proud chicken mama:)
