THE Brinsea Octagon 20 Eco Thread; Hatches, etc. (PICS)

I'm doing my first hatch in my new incubator - an R-Com 20 Max. For me, the Brinsea just didn't provide the quality I was looking for in an incubator. I didn't like that I had to open it to add water - that it didn't hold much water - the lid was crowded with the workings of the unit and you...

I had 19 chicks hatch in my Brinsea and after about 12 hatching they were so crowded that I had to open (and shurnk wrap one) to save everyone from being crushed and smothered.

I know! But all I had to go on was what they said on their webpage about returns/warranty/etc. They were very good! I'm so excited to try this again!! One good thing - I now have more than I need of backups for monitoring :) I have 3 thermometers (2 are digital) and 2 digital hygrometers. I'm...

Oh - I did!!! All I had to go on was what they had posted on their website - I absolutely went back and let everyone know they rock... Now for attempt #2 to incubate eggs. Can I give my dog the old eggs that were in the incubator for 48 hours? I put them in the fridge... was wanting to give...

UPDATE on Brinsea - I just got off the phone with them - they ROCK... they are sending UPS to even do a pick up and sending out a new unit today!! She said the strict rules and policy online is to prevent people from "abuse" - I HIGHLY recommend Brinsea :) They have great customer service and...

So - the temp dropped down to 67 and never recovered even after I turned the red knob - this unit is completely toast now. :( :( :( :( :( I'm so upset because I saved for 3 months to buy this thing. I had it for 3 days and it never worked. Anyone want to buy a defected unit for $191? :) Come...

I sent email/photo - I was wondering if they'd be off tomorrow due to the holiday - not many businesses take those kind of holidays off anymore... kind of sad really.

Says the guarantee applies to WORKING PARTS only... I'm wondering if they consider a lid a working part?

Thank you for finding that.. I don't see where it says WHO pays the shipping - and this doesn't go with the wording of their return policy - that says it must be unused - contradicting? I wonder if they draw straws to see which policy they honor on a given day. I'm just so frustrated and have...

I'm hoping you are right - I'm not finding any information on their website other than the buyer is screwed. I just worry I will pay more for a product because I was unlucky enough to get a defective product - To send back, get another is another $50 combined shipping for my unit... doesn't seem...

I'm thinking since the heating element is in the lid and I'm having to basically squeeze the lid to get it to fit into the grooved area - that pressure might be causing problems with the temperature gauge. Did you see the photo of the lid I posted that shows the foot hanging over the edge -

THE Brinsea Octagon 20 Eco Thread; Hatches, etc. (PICS)

Here is the photo - there are 4 of these little clear feet - 2 on each side. As you can see, one doesn't snap in the area it belongs - I have to push and hold the other side so those don't pop out while pushing this one foot into the groove it belongs - there is a buldge underneath that allows...

I just got it Wednesday - this is the first I've used it. I let it maintain it's temp/humidity for 24 hours (which it did) before putting eggs in and then it drops to 83 overnight and then up to 106 later in the day. I finally got it stable at 99 for almost 2 hours - then it just dropped to 95...

THE Brinsea Octagon 20 Eco Thread; Hatches, etc. (PICS)

It is more like little clear "feet" - there are 4 of them that fit into grooves - only 3 of mine fit - the 4th needs to be seriously pushed, shoved, etc. to fit into its groove. Well - their webpage clearly states I am responsible for shipping, 20% restocking fee and I can't even return it if...

OMG - the frustrations with this @#$% thing - I hate it, I do. It has spiked dropped over night for no reason to 83... spiked to 106 - then down to 98... then 95... then 102... this just doesn't make sense at ALL. I went and bought a little digital thermometer today to put in there to make...

Thank you! So - I will have 3 rotation schedules - right? rock front, then straight, then back....... the straight, front, straight, back... Also - how long in between rotations? Is 3 times a day good enough? Morning, noon, night..

Thefarmersmistress - I just got mine too and was disappointed with the lack of instructions for turning the eggs if you didn't have the auto cradle and the humidity monitoring and filling the water.. I'm hoping to get some answers too! I am not even sure how to turn the eggs without the cradle...
