Thanks so much everyone...
I posted a tribute to phoenix with the last photo I took of him a couple of months ago, if you want to read...

I really lost a piece of my soul tonight.
He wasn't just a chicken, he was my friend
Quote:
ATTA GIRL!!! Sick 'em!!! I hope you get him completely shut down! How many birds do you figure he is torturing out there?
I'm glad you got pictures of these two from day one. It's visual evidence of the abuse these poor babies have had to endure. I fear for how many others will not...
My very special and very sweet baby Phoenix passed away in my arms this afternoon, his liver finally gave up...
I knew he wouldn't be with us for long but I wasn't ready to lose him this soon.
It's always too soon.
I'm shattered and cannot stop crying, it's like a piece of me is gone.
I...
Sunshine's not doing so well, he's been in the house for over 2 weeks now on various antibiotics fighting a bronchitis or pneumonia, I don't quite know.
One more med to try later this week.
I had planned to end his suffering last Saturday but at the last moment I just couldn't go through with...
Update on little Phoenix... he wouldn't stand for the photo as he was scared to be perched up high, LOL!
Sure has come a long way since Nov 17th... and still a long way to go.
Whew!
Ingrid,
I forgot to THANK YOU for those hilarious captions, you really have a great talent for capturing the moment there!
And you made me smile for the first and only time today with that... so Thank You!
Thanks everyone!
The smell, well I'm used to it by now I guess...
I use about a roll of paper towels A DAY cleaning everything up and now that there will be no chicks born, I will put broody mama hen back in the coop and put Sunshine in the big dog crate, which will greatly reduce the mess...
I'm looking to place a complaint with the animal protection services (agricultural field) against this individual, he is knowingly selling sick animals by the truckload to unsuspecting customers and can be fined for this. I want his place inspected because for sure, he will NOT pass health...
Awe thank you!
Yes it's rough right now but you are right, they ARE tough little ones and they have a forever home here, whether they are boys or girls.
They are just so sweet and I've put so much into them, you know?
We'll just have to find a way to make it work
Here's a little video I took this morning...
Phoenix had to learn to walk again, he's still quite weak but is recuperating nicely after the Piperazine treatment.
Feathers finally growing in.
He is soooo sweet!
Sunshine is most likely a cockerel, too... Sigh. I'm just so lucky that way...
What we don't do for the love of birds...
If these two EE's pull out healthy in the end, they should make a lovely pair that I can *hopefully* hatch eggs from and get more EE's, this time healthy from the get-go!
Well...
Faith turned out to be a boy and was renamed Phoenix, he's been back in the house for about 10 days now... found out last week that he was severely infested with roundworms, weak and malnourished - poor baby
He's been dewormed and is doing much better now but still has a long way to...
Now there's a new word I like... fidiots
The animal protection laws here in my province are non-existent, reporting him would do nothing at all.
If the animals are fed and have shelter, no matter how terrible the conditions of the food and shelter are, nobody will do anything at all. You can...
I wish I knew her age... I'm just guessing here, as she (he??) is still peeping and really not big at all...
If Faith turns out to be a roo I will actually be thrilled, then I have a pair of EE's and can hopefully hatch babies at some point!
But more importantly, I want this little baby to get...
Update on Faith, my little "rescued" EE girl:
Well, I'm officially mad now.
I think the jerk who sold her to me knew he was lying when he said she was 12 weeks old at the time.
She was more like 6, if even that!!
Who does such a thing??
I've had her 3 weeks now and she still peeps like a...
t's amazing to me that they were in this bad of shape from what you mentioned in your previous thread about the conditions the breeder kept his flock in. One would think that the rest of his birds would have been in similar condition. I wonder why just these birds were in such terrible shape? I...

Still upset about the whole thing, but what can you do... I love those girls!
I don't know how long it takes for a baby's feathers to grow in...
Sure hope it's fast cuz the heating lamp is on almost all the time, it's costing us a fortune in electricity!
She better know she's loved, LOL!
