I'm so sorry sweetie
But that one chick is going to be VERY spoiled, won't she?
Rub her fuzzybutt for me!
I cleaned out and disinfected the incubator tonight because tomorrow... I start another brand-new hatch! Not for me though, LOL! I have my hands full for a while... One of my...
I wonder how many we've hatched collectively until now!
I started my bator with 30 eggs on Day 1.
After candling on Day 14, I discarded the infertile eggs and the early quitters.
I kept a few questionable eggs, as I couldn't see through the dark shell.
Ended up with 17 eggs in the bator on...
We're up to 12 fuzzbutts this morning!!
3 more are pipping and zipping in the bator, and then that's that...
15 eggs were definitely fertile and the 2 others were iffy (shell too dark to see).
had to perform 2 c-sections so far, hopefully no more!!
To everyone: welcome to the world, sweet...
Just a note to say I had to perform a c-section on chick #9, she had pipped a hole in the egg since 11am and I could see her struggle in there all day, beak not breaking through any more shell or membrane.
I gave her 8 hours and then when she was getting weaker, I could see her starting to get...

Technodoll I was just wondering if this means that you used the egg cartons and it didn't work very well? I go into lockdown tonight and have gone back and forth about using the egg cartons...we just usually lay the eggs on the bottom of the incubator.
Yes, they are in a ventilated...
I'll download pics later today... waiting for the hatch to be over and the babies all fluffy and settled in!
BTW... This whole "lockdown" business? Not working for me.
I've been opening the bator to take out the chicks as they hatch before they hurt themselves flailing around on sharp broken...
The yolk sac is fully absorbed (nothing hanging out or bleeding, nice belly buttons) but when I press the lower belly, yellow fluid oozes out.
Baby seems to be doing better, I just checked and it's snuggled with the others finally... I had to wet the belly under running water to wipe some...
Woke up this morning to FOUR peeping chicks in the bator!!
And 5 more eggs have pipped, I can hear chirping...
The chicks that hatched a day early are ALL from the same mama, yet the chicks all look very different - it's so strange... The little first-born got stuck all night under the side...
I have a chick hatching!
So eggcited!!!
A full day early, too!!
The three other eggs from the same mama all have pips!!
I can't wait to wake up tomorrow morning and see the surprises!!

What breed? As I understand, some breeds pop out sooner than others. (like Delaware's) Otherwise, your temps could have just been a bit high, so they are hatching earlier.
Temps are weird... mercury thermometer shows 102F and the digital thermometer shows 98F, so I'm hoping that the...
OK I now have three eggs with tiny pips in them, a full day ahead of schedule!
All from the same hen, too
Are her babies just more vigorous than the others??
