Sorry y'all. I've running around with kid stuff and haven't had a chance to get online.
I've been feeding the 50lb bags of Hi Pro rabbit pellets that the local feed store carries. I use a large cup to fill their self feeder every morning, it weighs out to about 25 oz a day between the...
Did this thread get moved? I thought it was under "meat chickens".
I have the 10wk weights on my litter of 5 and the 6wk weights on my litter of 9.
10wk weights are.
4.82, 4.14, 4.25, 4.37, 5.31 = 22.89lbs with the only doe being the largest
The 6wk weights are
1.85, 2.06, 1.87, 2.02...
If they are DQing rabbits because they don't meet breed standards at your fairs it needs to be in the rule books so people are aware of it. Around here the main class is the meat class so everyone breeds to get the best meat rabbits. Most are crossbreeds so we don't really have those problems.
I weighed them right after the pictures and the baby (top picture) was 4.65lbs and the momma (bottom pict) was 6.4lbs. Daddy is over 11 lbs but I don't know exactly how big. My kitchen scale only goes to 11 lbs. I'll have to buy a bigger scale.

We are keeping track of both litters up until 8 weeks for 4-H and then we are keeping the 2 largest from each litter to show this fall. I'll keep weights on them and see if the smaller ones catch up.
I'm still gonna post my weights so I can find them when it comes time to do our fair books.
The 4 week weights of my second litter are
1.01 lbs
.97 lbs
.99 lbs
.98 lbs
.93 lbs
1.01 lbs
.95 lbs
1.05 lbs
.86 lbs
These are smaller than my other litter but I wonder if it's because the doe was...

Weigh them when you can and I'll reweigh mine so we can compare them. My kids are more than happy to climb in the cage (at times I'm tempted to lock them in too!) and bring me the babies.
My second litter was two weeks yesterday.
Their weights are: 6.4, 6.5, 5.9, 6.0, 6.4, 6.5, 6.3, 6.0 and 6.0. 56oz or 3.5lbs.
A bit off topic, the does are littermates. Both were bred to my buck. My girls want to keep a doe and buck from each litter. Since the does are sisters they are...
My second litter has their eyes open now and their ears are up and look way to big for their bodies. They are fat little things. My daughter wanted to weigh them today even though it is a few days early for their 2wk but we did it anyway. The are between 4.9oz and 6.2oz. I'll weigh them again...

Do you have your 6wk weights yet? I'm dying to see how they compare. My kids want me to keep these two does but I want to see how the kits do before I decide. I'd compare to the breed standard if I could find it. It's not even on the American Federation of New Zealand Rabbit...
I posted this on the other thread but decided to post it here too that way when it comes time to do record books and I can't find my notes I can just look up this thread.
Today is 6wks so here we go.
My NZW's are
oz 40.3, 37.1, 39.4, 40.7, 43.0 = 200.5oz OR lbs 2.5,2.3, 2.5, 2.5, 2.7=...
I've got a second NZW litter that is a week old today. I"m going to keep weights on those for 4-H, I can post those if you'd like.
There are 9 in this litter.
3.8,3.4,4.2,3.9,3.7,4.0,2.9,3.9 and 3.6oz for a total of 33.4oz.
Thanks. The only "fault" I've found with them is the one momma "over cleaned" at birth. If you look close at the first one at the feeder half it's left ear was eaten off. Doesn't really matter for a meat rabbit but we are keeping the other 4 for 4-H.
