We had a tiny bit of hail. The phone blew up at 7 am for the tornado alert in Montgomery area. It rained hard a couple of times but only appears we got 1/2 inch or so. Back to Spring going on Summer steamy.- topdycke

I have been once to the Bluebonnet show. It was a lot of fun to wander around and see everything and hear all of the roosters all going off. There is a swap in Conroe but I have not been. Rough weekend learning to treat sour crop in the last hen surviving from my first flock of 6 hatched from eggs. Keeping fingers crossed. Then taped up a broken toe on the Jersey Giant 3 week old chick... took out the branch I had in their rubbermaid tub as they were entirely too rowdy...- topdycke

Welcome from Magnolia! I have 6 3-week olds who are the newbies for my mixed flock which will be 12. Added a welsumer, barndevelder and jersey giant to the mix of fancy feathers and colors eggs.- topdycke

Welcome all! Just brought home six new peepers to add to the flock. Barndevelder, Welsumer, GLW, Dark Brahma, Light Brahma and Jersey Giant. If anyone is in the Houston area Livengood Feed in Tomball has started getting their chicks in. More of an assortment of breeds are ordered (from Ideal)...- topdycke

love tea - yes the baby chicks need to be in a brooder with a heat lamp until they start to get their feathers in around 7-8 weeks. I use a large rubbermaid tub or the feed store uses a big livestock tank for their chicks- topdycke

Wow 43 now its a heat wave ! Horse was hopping around in his blanket this morning and the chickens were like whatever. I was bundled in two and three layers of clothes. No - I am good with warmer weather!- topdycke
