This is a thread where we can share our homemade chicken feed recipes. Many people would like to mix their own feed. This is intended to be one big thread where we post recipes. It is mostly for chickens but if you want, you can share recipes for other poultry like ducks or quail.

Please post only recipes that you know can be used. Do not "guess" or make things up. Only post recipes you have used or others do. Give credit to the place you originally found the recipe with a link if its a website or credit to the title and author if it came from a book.

(To be clear, discussion and speculation on feeds is welcome, but be sure to mark it clearly as such. Do not post a recipe if you do not know anyone who has used it successfully over a period of time. Recipes should be for a fairly complete diet, not for scratch or other treats.)

Here are some recipes I found online. I have given them names/titles so discussing them is easier for us to do. Some of the recipes already had names, but I may have changed some of them to make them shorter or easier to tell apart from each other.

And another one... this one, if you follow the link below, says it is a layer feed and not for meat birds...

I was doing research on this tonight! I don't know if I should try to mix my own... I have celiac disease and I cannot inhale oat wheat or barley crumbs.... I want my chickens to be healthy... But I don't want to be sick... Hmm I will have to make a decision soon, starter feed is almost gone.

I wonder if there is a gluten-free chicken feed mix?

...Aha! Look at what I found! This woman (or man, i'm not sure) mixes two different recipes and feeds her chickens both, some of each every day.

Here you go:

Here is another recipe, from a site with a very long name...

Quote: This recipe is ground up with a grain mill.

This is the only one I could find for now. Does anyone have any mixes that they use? Please share.

Thank you!!! Exactly what I was looking for!!! This is great! Now all I have to do is find bags of non GMO corn.. This will be a challenge.
