All will be well, and that will be well is well.
My Buckeye cockerel has been marginally aggressive toward me a couple of times. A couple days ago he flew at me in an unquestionable attack. Fortunately I was well covered, it being winter, and he hasn’t got much for spurs yet. I would rather take him out, but he’s my only Buckeye male and I really like the Buckeye pullets and would like to have more.I have some dried elderberries, I make a cup of tea now and then. It's delicious.
Basil, the cockerel is getting aggressive towards me. This morning I brought fresh water and was taking out the font with slush when he jumped up and knocked the waterer out of my hands, the base broke but I have others. My natural reaction is to want to give him a shove or kick but that supposedly would make him more aggressive. Jerk.
Anyway, I instinctively tossed him with the top of my foot. (I’m a girl, okay. I’m instinctively gentle even when I’m instinctively violent.)
Then I remembered the “don’t defend yourself; it only makes them worse” thing. I’m not sure I believe that. It’s so Neville Chamberlain. That said, I didn’t want to damage him, either. I then made it a point to “walk through him” as R2 advised me concerning aggressive toms, so I did that and he backed down. Now anytime I end up in a position to do it, I repeat the “walk-through” treatment. He hasn’t repeated the attack, so we’ll see what happens.
