When he moulted a couple years ago, a few of the pullets decided his pin feathers on his head were rather tasty. And holy Dinah did they ever bleed and of course being almost white and all that blood - well it was a shark feeding frenzy!

Over the past couple years I have been trying to get his feathers to grow back in their full glory, but I fear the brats have damaged his scalp, he has just finished a mount and he is still not growing his feathers back. I now keep him and his silkie harem separated from the evil brats but in the afternoon I let him out to get some socializing with the other ladies (and beat the snot out of Mr Little Chicken aka ninja Roo), and if I am not watching him like a hawk the evil brats are on him like sharks!

Poor dude!

But the ladies do love him even without his feathers - he’s an awesome Roo.
