Subtraction is the hard side of chicken math - unfortunately, it often becomes necessary. As noted above, it is not as simple as the number of males and females but also a matter of the amount of space the birds have to work with and the individual personalities of the birds involved as some are more inclined to confrontation than others.
Space isn't a problem there are 3 coops on the property plus a barn. I know I'll have to eliminate some but wasn't sure if there was a ratio that worked best. So I will have to watch n see how to aeperate and eliminate. I just won't be doing the buttering myself the guys will have to do that for me.
I guess if a few roosters need more then 40,000 acres i'm in deep trouble lol thanks for the helpWhile that does sound like a great setup, you won't truly know that space isn't a problem until these males mature and you know how much territory they each think they need to lay claim too. Some males are unwilling to allow other males anywhere in their perceived territory(which they may see as the entire property) while others are more than willing to share space, and even hens, with other males.
