One of my rhode island reds cant walk without falling over, she is eating but only when i put food right in front of her. She takes a few steps and then just falls over. Wondering what this could be and if there is anything I can do. I have 20 chikcs of mixed breed and another one of the rhode island reds died a couple of nights back. All the other chicks seem healthy and fine.
 
You need to answer us some questions:
How old is she?
Does she have a drippy nose or eyes?
Is her crop full?
How do her poops look?
Is she separated from the others?
Give her a good lookover. Check the bottoms of her feet for black scabs. Check her wing pits and around her vent for bugs.
 
she is about 1 week old, isnt drippy or sickly looking, her crop is not full, i have her separated and she is not pooping, when she was walking she stayed really low to the ground and wasn't standing up tall, very clumsy and falling over, she is getting worse i dont think she will make it

i have been dipping her beak in water and she was drinking but she stopped eating about 2 hours ago. just laying on her side now.
 
for a chick you are doing about all you can do. make sure she has plenty of food and water and keep an eye on her. You can also feed plain active culture yogurt.
 
Well my sick chick is slowly showing signs of improvement. She is still eating and drinking and has begun to stand up on her own. She can walk but very awkwardly and with the use of her wings for balance. She is not completely better but I am hopeful. Still trying to figure out what is wrong with her/ why she walks like she's drunk.
 
IT is possible she could but you would have had to brought it to her if they are in a brooder and not on the ground.

Are they on medicated feed?

It could also be that she wasn't eating enough. Lots of chicks die at around 5-7 days from starvation because they never get the hang of eating.
 
Hey, one of my chicks was doing this same thing. She was walking kind of sideways too. This morning she was lots better though, and by this evening she seemed fine. She was running and playing with the others, and eating like crazy. And sticking her neck out like the others. Before she was kind of holding it in.
We call her Cleopatra, because she has little black lines coming straight out from her eyes like and Egyptian lady. I'm so glad she's better!
 
Mine is doing the same wierd thing with her neck as well, kind of holding it in and to the side, wish she would get better as quickly as yours but she does seem to be doing better, I have her on medicated feed, electrolyte and vitamin water, and termycin antibiotics, she is showing signs of improvement but has been in this condition for about 3-4 days now
