Need ORAL dosage of Tylan 50 for Turkey + bantam & std chickens

I read somewhere that Tylan 50 can be given down the throat orally at a rate of 3 cc for a turkey. I want to double-check with some of you to be sure that this is correct & would I use the same for a tom as for a hen? I'd also like to know the dosage for standard & bantam chickens & again, is it the same for hens & roos? Does anyone have a per pound oral dosage so I can be more exact for each bird I'm treating?

Info on Tylan is so conflicting that I go nuts every time I use it. I think I have the injection amounts correct but if oral dosage works I'd prefer that method.

35mg/kg

Tylan can be given SQ (skin shot) if you don't want to do muscle shot..
just pinch up skin at back of neck..clean with alcohol..inject into skin..
massage gently to help disperse.

there is a water soluble Tylan for the drinking water.

I have used Tylan50 down the throat of a sick turkey. 1cc or little less should be given, 3cc is too much, IMO.Turkeys seem to be sensitive to meds, IME. Bantams should get 1/4cc injection. Injection works better if you can do it.
 
Thanks sammi & chickenzoo. If I do the oral method, is it the Tylan50 injectible that I put down their throat? Or should I use the water soluble down the throat? I have both Tylan50 injectible & Gallimycin water soluble powder on hand. And I have 2 raspy turkey hens that are in 2 different pens with other turkeys. Can't isolate them together with medicated water as they'll fight so I need to make sure they each get the meds needed. I sprained my wrist & can't give injections right now so have to depend on DH to get something down them orally. So any help or advice you can give will really be appreciated. Thanks,

I would go with whatever is easiest. I have used the injectable down the throat in a pinch. Never had a problem with it as long as you do not aspirate them. The Gall. water sol should help too, but I have limited experience on that medication.

-- a 15lb turkey would be 4.8cc
-- a 20lb turkey would be 6.4cc
-- a 25lb turkey would be 8.0cc

This is only good for Tylan50. If you are dosing using Tylan200, please remember that it is 4 times as concentrated as the former. I hope this helps.

Quail- Thanks for posting this. My BBB turkey was very sick and used the 8 ml for 5 days. Worked great! Now I am going to treat a chicken with the same cold/conjestion problem.​
