I've used Tea Tree Oil on all the animals and kids for various minor injuries, dermatitis and to make sure new birds don't get picked on when they're introduced but Wow, does that stuff work!
The other day I came home to find one of my black sex links with a HUGE gash down her backside. I could literally see the bones in this deep hole and flesh and meat were hanging. But she was still walking around and even pecking at herself a little so I figured I'd give it a day. I poured Tea Tree oil full strength into the four inch long gash and then sort of smoothed her feathers down with a light coating of tea tree oil to keep the other chickens away from her. Three days, just three days later that huge gash is closed, no infection, no blood, not even a scab and my girl is just fine and apparently laid an egg this morning. I'm amazed.

I love tea tree oil too. I also put a few drops in the kids shampoo if lice are going around in school. From what I have heard they don't like the smell and don't get on you if you smell like it.

Isn't tea tree oil the best!!! I use almost all the Melacleuca (they are a company that has all kinds of health and wellness products from vitamins to food to beauty products) products. They are natural and derived from tea tree oil or it is added as a disinfectant, cleaning booster ect ect.

Glad to hear your baby is better now!!!

Good to know! I've used it topically - but I just have a little roller ball type bottle. Where do you get yours?

I got my first BIG bottle from an essential oil dealer on Ebay. When that ran out I went to the local metaphysical store where they sell lots of herbs and real essential oils and got a couple of bottles.
