Glad I found this thread. My 2 19 week Black Orpingtons are doing this today, but it's 30C (86F) which is fairly hot for our area. They are still moving around perfectly fine (less sitting), and I honestly think it's due to the heat, rather than preparing to lay (they haven't laid yet). My 18 Week Black Orp is panting on and off.. they're all holding their wings out a little bit as they walk. My White Leghorn's seem fine, but Black does attract heat.... I honestly think it kind of seems like this Pullet is just hot!
