Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

Two of them (my two) helped with butchering our teeny 10 meat birds when they were 4 & 6...we'll see how it goes this year I guess. I'll see if I can take a pic of the plucker!

Out of 5 daughters, my dad got 2 that hunt, 4 that fish - but only 3 that actually clean fish, and 3 married to men who hunt/fish (+1 who is seriously dating a man who hunts/fishes). I remember helping Dad taking care of game when I was pretty young, like 8 years old for skinning fish and wrapping venison.

Off to the pole shed to see if my deer is froze or not....if not I'll get him skinned and the tenderloins out.....big head today with the celebration last night...forgot what that feels like the morning after too many. dang

What was the verdict?

I feel like I'm getting nothing done today. I'm so meh. I washed one window inside and out, and the trim, in my studio. Spackled some holes up. Ummm....that's pretty much it other than changing out waters and collecting eggs twice so far.

Frozen to the point (now this is funny) that I dragged it down to the house and laid it on some plastic in the dining room by the patio doors in the sun and the warm house...couple hours later I was able to drag it back out and get er skinned and quartered. Next couple days we will get it boned out and cut into steaks and grind the burger. Kinda nice to look at my deer in the house... :gig

I remember one year when all three of us brothers hunted together for the last time.
the youngest, (Dave) insisted we hang the deer until the last day so we could take a group picture of all the deer. I argued against it. that was not my way of handling meat..
well, we did. took a real nice picture, and then came the job of skinning frozen hides off of frozen meat.. I beotched and complained the whole time and made it more miserable than it already was..
Lesson learned: after that Dave took pictures of each deer and we skinned them while they were still warm..
You know that you live in the country when:
you bring a deer into the house to thaw it out

Dang bl4, I never thought everyday normal life around here was worth a pic at the time.... ;)
Prolly take ten lbs to Kropf's for hot dogs...they make the best.
Finish tomorrow with the cutting, grinding and wrapping.
Our two cats are well fed kee, don't think they catch many mice, but they do catch moles and shrews almost daily.
