OMG look at those SNAKES!! Where do you live? I just moved to Florida and had to rehome all of my birds, but in a year or so we will probably settle in a home and I am soooo getting coturnix again. Those snakes look like they ate something..what kind of snakes are they? how do you protect your birds? Sorry for the questions but they are relavent to keeping birds in a snake-rich area....
 
I'm in North Carolina...Those are black snakes or rat snakes some call them they eat eggs and birds too... Far as keeping them at bay I use bird netting around all the posts going up the pens seems to work so far.
