I had a coon get in my cage a while ago. I didn't loose any birds thanks to my pellet gun. Ha ha! I just can't figure out how to latch the door right. I have tried different latches, but the coons always pick them. Anybody know of a good latch?

3INCH DRYWALL SCREWS AND A BATTERY POWERED DRILLS WORK GREAT, BUT THEY ARE A LIL UNWIELDLY FOR ENTRY WAYS INTO ANIMAL PENS... I HAVE SOME OF THE 1'S THAT RANDALL SHOW HERE, THEY WORK GOOD SO LONG AS YOU REMEMBER TO MAKE SURE THE SPRING LATCH IS CLOSED, BUT ARE A LITTLE WEAK FOR LARGE OPENINGS SUCH AS MAN=SIZED DOORWAYS. ALSO YOU CAN USE THE LOCK HASPS AND A BULL SNAP OR PAD LOCK, THERE ARE ALSO HORSE LATCHES OUT THERE THAT CAN BE LOCKED WITH BULL SNAP OR PADLOCKS FOR THE LARGER OPENINGS.

I might just dummy lock a pad lock on there. I don't think a coon can get through that. Even if he does he'll be lookin through the barrel of my shotgun by the time he gets in.

You'll Find Better Results With The Shotgun Than The Pellet Gun

I Actually Catch Quite A Few In Leg Hold Traps Before They Can Get In The Pens--- Obviously You Have To Be Careful And Really Think And Plan These Out When Using Them Or Else Your Liable To Catch Your Own Dog Or Neighbor's Kids, Etc..

Yeah, I learn't that a few months ago. For now I grab whatever has shells next to it. I have caught them in leg traps and live traps. Any coon that is near my cage becomes a hat.

Thanks a lot. Now I just have to box in the legs of my cages so the dogs and coyotes can't get them through the wire.

Coons Are Notorius For That Too--- Gave Me Fits With That 1--- Reach Up And Hook A Nail Thru 1/2 Hardware Cloth And Grab A Toe Off Of A Bird And Pull Till It Rips The Leg Off The Bird And Down Thru The Wire
