Anyone have pics of 6 to 8 wk old SS chicks, I'm going to go get 4 of the them. I gave a family member a mix of SS and Welsummer, 39 total, and I need to know what I'm looking for.
The chick in the front is a Speckled Sussex, and the one in the back is a brown leghorn; I think she's only four weeks, though. The Speckled Sussex chicks will have whitish/pinkish legs, whereas the Welsummers will have yellow legs.
Yes especially since that one has a brown leghorn and Brown leghorns and Welsummers are both the same color( Red Duckwing) so that would be great for comparison.
This is my first year with chickens and a while back I accidently put 2 wellsummers with my 5 speckled sussex. I figured out that the speckled sussex have white on their wing (I think its the primary feathers) You have to spread the wing apart to see it and they also have a more white cheast with some yellow shading where as the wellsummers dont have the white and have a creamy colored cheast. There is a post on here from april that you could read through https://www.backyardchickens.com/forum/viewtopic.php?id=326103 The chics are a little younger but I think it could still help! Good luck ~R
Alrighty, so it's pretty save to say that by now sense they are almost 7 wks old that it should be pretty easy to tell them apart. The leg color will help out and so will everything else you all told me. Thanks everyone you all are awesome, again thanks very much.
