I don't want to aurgue with any one, but I bought 21 cortunix birds in may. Fed them out , caged them in families and culled the excess males.
At 10 weeks I weighed both the males and females to fix up a family to sell.
the males were half pound, females 16-18 oz.
Wasn't till I just incubated my first batch of eggs that I found out they must of been a cross between jumbo Brown and goldens. I think the genetic diversity of
the cross was what encouraged the growth.
It might be worth it to keep 3 lines to get the growth. one of each pure color and one crossed for meat. It is a common thing that is done with rabbits.
Except for the lethal yellow gene might get in the way of doing that.
