Reducing feed waste from PVC pipe feeders

Hi folks

I installed a couple of PVC feeders in my coop for my young chicks, and discovered that even when hung up high the chicks managed to spill lots of feed out, so I cut out a couple of feeder
"collars" using a rubber type material similar to the silicone baking sheets you can purchase cheaply from Walmart. Put a few pecking holes in and you are set. The spillage is now minimized. I have enclosed a few photos.

Since I got the idea for the PVC feeder from BYC, I am "paying it forward" - maybe someone will find this useful.

I am a neat freak- guiltily I am also one of those who pick poop out of the coop everyday-(it's a 4x4 so can be done in 10 minutes). I just got tired of trying to clear all the excess feed scattered all over ( fear of attracting rodents as the feed invariably fall off the coop onto the ground outside the human door.

Thanks for the idea. I'm having the same problem with my pvc feeders which are made out of 4" pipe with a "y" on the bottom. How is the bottom part of that feeder attached? Do you have any pictures of the feeder without the new covers on? I've been trying to come up with another setup for myself since my chickens are wasting tons of feed.

cabincrazyone is right- just a simple 2.5 inch screw that I drilled through- not very sophisticated, but it works! Now if only I can get them to stop spilling more feed in my other feeder in the run!

I guess my next question is, is the bottom part just a larger diameter cap and does the upright pvc pipe have slots cut in the side or is the bottom of the pipe just held off the bottom of the cap? Thanks.
