Hi cree57i. cute photos. did you train them to sit like that in the circle like a monk ?

the 2 pullets don t look a same to me .a yellow hackle is for sure Orpington cross ,the other she is different. Morbius going to tell us.

the 2 cockerels are stunning looking bird.

I m amazed how did you manage to take a photos of them sitting down on the same time in a good formation .like a crop circle .

I have to train mine to do that .

I'm beginning to think that the brown pullet isn't a buff cross. I think that my rooster carries something that is showing as brown. F0 GCM rooster to Black copper hen yielded all barred birds. The F1xF1 have yielded a brown chick in every hatch that I've done.

Ive also got a 2 month old brown chick that looks similar to yours. I'll get some pics tomorrow. I'm also getting occasional brown faces as well. My F0 rooster:

They should be barred, but something caused them to be black copper.

1) Brown barred chicks out of the F2 ( F1 X F1 ) easy to explain ; the P1 parent one of them was ER/eb not pure ER/ER. could be the Rooster or the Hen ( Black copper ).

if you go to the chicken calculator and put your F0 rooster as ER/eb X ER/ER ( BCM hen ) = F1 all barred and dominant ER
F1 X F1 = F2 all the cockerels are barred some are ER/ER and few will be eb/eb ,B/b+
should bee some eb/eb barred pullets too.

Check t out you will see. I couldn t find other explanation my friend.

What bother me is your F1 cross from your F0 rooster and Easter eager = The 2 F1 cockerels aren t his sons impossible .the barring gene ( cuckoo ) is dominant no matter what.

My explanation is = the hen is super breeders( super fertile ) she kept the sperm from the previous mating.

some study managed to show some hens are capable of Holding the sperm for a longer period.

I could bee wrong .my personnel opinion.

It was brought up on the genetic thread that she could have been mated by her son and stored the sperm.

Seems like my rooster is a mess genetically, possibly carrying eb, definitely carrying recessive white.

Is this what an eb bird looks like? I don't see any barring on the neck though.
 
She look more like a yellow partridge with lacing NOT Barring.

your Rooster F0 did very well .you can work with the F1 x F1 and the F2 and clean them up slowly .

Mating between them selves for a few generation will help you the work.

don t forget he produced nice type and well colored progeny SO he carry a lot of a good thing.

I think your F2 double barred are more ER/ER pure than they father F0 .

This one came from my f1xf1 gcm. One rooster with 2 hens alone in a pen. The rooster is single barred, so I expected non barred black copper looking birds. This one is a pullet, as well as cree's, but they are brown instead of black.

Ive also got one more that is only a couple weeks old. Looks the same.

Yeah for sure the F0 rooster or the F0 Black copper hen carry the eb gene at the E locus and a pattern gene Pg as well .that is what causing the lacing .the lacing aren t define because need other genes witch are absent .


we can see the importance of matting the F1 progeny between them selves to produce the F2 progeny and to check up the genetic make up of the P1 ( F0 ) parent stock.

from now on you can pick the GCM from the F2 and cross them again between them selves to get the F3 . This F3 progeny will purest and ready to be crossed to other line.

I got a columbian and Salmon from my Birchen F1 x F1 .So figure out what has been added to this marans chooks ? no body know.

Im going to be moving soon and have decided to get rid of my f1 single barred rooster. For free if anyone local would like him. I've advertised him for sale locally with no interest. I hate to eat him, but will have to soon.
