I think Dunlap sent me mutts. Recently ordered some chicks. Ordered 15 Silver and 15 Golden Sebrights. About 15 have straight combs and most of the Goldens have white wing feathers. I wasn't expecting show stock but was expecting what I ordered. Called them Thursday and the lady the I talked with said she would have her husband call me. Never received a call so called again this morning. Talked to the same lady again. Still no indication if they are going to make good or not. Thinking I may call the CC company and see if they can do anything. I will be giving these to some 4H kids this week

Here are the straight combs and some with light white wing feathers. I gave the ones with lots of white away earlier this morning

From what I hear they lose that white later on,but they look like hatchery Sebrites to me.
Give em some time to mature and im sure a sebrite breeder/owner can tell you more then my limited knowledge can.

Your right I think they are mutts. From what I was told rosecombs are a dominant gene so if half have single combs they are probably a bad mix. I do here the white will some times go away, but that looks like alot of white feathering to me so I m not sure if it will go away with the next molt. Sorry to hear your bad luck.

They don't do so well on their Columbian Rocks, either, from what I've seen, which is a shame since those are so hard to find. What Yard full 'o Rocks received turned out to be what looked like mixed breed Rocks with Columbian traits. I do wish they'd respond to folks better than what I've heard.

You order from a hatchery and you get hatchery quality.

It's like buying a puppy at the pet store. Just because they can give you papers that say it is a poodle doesn't mean it is a poodle, or even close to being a poodle. I don't think the hatcheries are nearly as bad as the puppy mills, but they pay the same attention to the standards of their breeding stock. Their criteria seems to be based upon whether they get chicks to ship, not upon comb type or leg color.

I've ordered hatchery ducks. They are fine, healthy and adorably cute. They will go into the freezer in a couple more weeks. They do not meet the SOP and I didn't expect them to, so I was not disappointed that they are all mis-marked and non-standard colors. That won't affect how they taste.

It's possible that they messed up your order and shipped you the wrong birds, so you can try contacting them. Just don't get your hopes up too high about what you will receive. It looks like you received healthy birds, so you got what everybody else gets.

I think Sebrights are lovely, but your best bet to get birds that look like Sebrights is to buy directly from a hobby breeder who pays attention to those things and where you can see what their stock looks like. You won't be allowed to go into the pens, but they will have photos and you can see their birds at the shows.
