So how many of you eat the eggs after worming?

I have seen a couple of posts with comments about people not throwing out eggs and eating them after worming their chickens. I am curious as to how many just continue to eat them. We just wormed with Valbazen which I believe is used in humans also and I am wondering how much of the 1/2cc or 1/4cc of wormer given to the chickens actually makes it into the eggs. Is this just a very precautionary statement so they cannot be held liable. Or do they just not know and this is safe? Any opinions?
 
I honestly believe it's a liability statement. There's no way I'm going to toss eggs from a chicken who had a tiny glob of wormer.
The people who tell horror stories about eating the eggs are probably the same ones waiting in line at theMcDonald's drive-thru

I do. I don't sell/give them to others, but the dogs and I eat them. I also drink the milk fomr goats that have been de-wormed also. I figure it would just keep me free of worms also!
 
This is funny. I have always wondered about that.

A tiny dose survives the chickens digestive tract, to

survive the chickens other systems, to

find it's way into an egg, to

stand the test of time, to

survive frying, baking, or boiling, to

survive the human digestive tract, to

survive other human systems, to

wreak havoc on human health.

Imp- I wonder the same things about anti-biotics too.

btw- I do understand that wormer is not alive, but "survive" just feels like the right verb.
 
Well thank you all for offering your opinions! We have been eating them, and have given them to a close family friend, but only with full disclosure! I have to say that we are all doing just fine! I totally agree with Imp and the choice of the word "survive" is very fitting. We just couldn't bring ourselves to throw out all those beautiful eggs, and our dog definitely does not need to eat 5 eggs a day!
 
Well here's the thing. I knew I had read over and over that you shouldn't eat the eggs from chickens that had just been wormed but it wasn't on my mind when I finally bought some Wazine and dosed the chickens. It wasn't until about 3 months later that I thought: "Oh my, we weren't supposed to eat those eggs". None of us suffered any ill-effects that I'm aware of from eating the eggs. The worst part is that I frequently give a dozen eggs to various friends/relatives and since it wasn't on my mind not to eat the eggs ourselves, I'm sure I probably gave some "affected" eggs away during the same period. None of my friends or family has reported any issues either and still eagerly accept every egg I give them. So next time I worm them, I probably just won't worry about it and keep on doing "business as usual".
 
It sure would be interesting to know the percentage of people who do and don't eat them after worming. I am suprised that no one has posted against it yet...
 
Is there a way you could post a poll? My guess is everyone tells everyone else not to but they, themselves, eat them anyway.
