What chick starter do you guys recommend? I bought Dumor, but I realized that it is mainly for game birds, and I haven't heard great things about it. I was going to return it and buy Purina starter. What do you guys think?
I buy chick starter from my neighbour who makes it himself, its not any special brand and my chicks do fine. I've fed chicks duck, chick and turkey starter before when I ran out of their normal feed and they did fine. I'd just feed the Dumor stuff, then get something different in the next bag.

Where I live we don't have that many options for brands, unless you drive to different feed mills and get it right from there.

The brands we have available are ManaPro (more expensive than Purina, and comes in tiny bags), Purina (easiest to get, and I use it for my rabbits), and Dumor chick starter. We don't have much of a selection, and we don't know anyone who makes it themselves. Plus, I don't think Dumor is medicated. We have to go back to the feed store for rabbit food anyways, so we might just return it then. BTW does the brand of grit matter?

(No worries)

I would feed it over un-medicated feed, just to be on the safe side. It doesn't "cure" cocci, but it does help prevent them from getting it. All my chicks get medicated started, but I know others who don't and their chicks are fine.
