my pet chicken reviews

I have ordered from them twice. The first time I had a little trouble calling in to add a chick to the order. Out of the first 11, I had one accidental cockerel, an EE. I now know that the breed is notorious for being difficult to sex. Otherwise they were great, super healthy. And the staff gave me no trouble regarding a refund for the one chick. The next year I ordered 10 more chicks. This time the PO lost them for a day. When they arrived one had head trauma. I called MPC to report the issue. The lady was extremely helpful in suggestions on how to nurse that baby back. She called 2 days later to check in since she hadn't heard from me. The chick made a full recovery. And no males this time. In all I had ordered 5 bantams and got all 5 pullets as I paid for plus the 14 correctly sexed large fowl.
I would consider their eggs as well. Will see when the next broody pops up.....

Ditto! (I just wish their shipping wasn't so expensive! My chicks (9) wound up being $18 each after shipping was factored in!) The nice thing is that I got breeds that I couldn't get at the local feed store.

Yes, that's why I did the 9. As a newbie I wasn't prepared to take on 25 little chicken lives!

I agree. I wasn't prepared to get so many and we live in a community, not a farm, 25 would have thrown my neighbors for a serious loop! Lol

MPC was great and I totally understood the chances of getting a roo. I just wish some local Post Offices would be a little more strict with live chick deliveries.

I am lucky, my post office brings them to my front door and I'm in the country, they make a special delivery. Though my very first order from MPC got sent to North Carolina, they found someone there to take those chicks and MPC sent me a new order the next week. It was kinda funny in hindsight to get a call from a post office in North Carolina about picking up my chicks, I'm in Wisconsin.

That's funny! I'm happy to hear someone took them and you got some more sent. Did you get the same breeds or did you have to alter your order?
