Setting eggs 6/11 and 7/4 - Join me!

Tomorrow is lockdown here too! O.O Time seems to creep until these last few days... I am a bit nervous about this hatch but I am going to leave it to them to know what to do. :D

Congratulations everyone on your precious little babies. I love the pictures. I have a bunch hatched and a bunch pipped and will post pics soon.

Aschen - I am babysitting an incubator full of serama eggs for a friend who lost electric during a storm. She is going to leave them with me to hatch instead of transporting them again YAY!!! They are the tiniest little chicken eggs i have ever seen. They are not due to hatch for a week yet so I cant wait to see pics of how tiny your babies are. They cant be much bigger than a bumblebee LOL.

And holy fishsticks batman! I have a pip already! O.O Early baby, which I discovered when I went to turn the eggs. Needless to say I have commenced lockdown a few hours early. GO TINY BIRD GO!

(OH, and yeah, these are some ITSY little eggs! I have two that will prolly be that bumblebee size, and they range up to almost as big as my tiny Modern Game Bantam eggs were... keeping my fingers crossed here!)

Mine did exactly the same thing....they were at least 2 to 3 days early. I put them in lockdown and they started pipping an hour later. I think this hot humid weather is responsible. Best of luck on your hatch.

I think we have a late quitter. :eek:/ Last time I checked it looked good, but I don't see any movement. I looks like things might be getting gross in that egg. I don't want to toss it just in case...so it might go into lock down tonight.

I have a predicament, though. I don't want to buy another styrobator since we only hatch once a year or so. I got extras from the two other breeders, and they all look good. Tonight is lock down, but it is too soon to see development in the other eggs. One more day, and I could probably see some in the second batch, but not the third. My turner is mostly full. So, I can take out the one row. That won't leave much room, but if I divide off with hardware cloth, it will be tight but sufficient for 2 chicks.

grats on the early hatcher!!!

And Classic- not to be the bad shoulder angel buuut... buy another styrobator and call it your "hatcher". Lots of people do that!

As for my eggs- I have 3 button quail out and about- looks like one of them has a small case of splayed legs, but seems to be getting around fine now that they are moved onto bedding. It's still a day early so we shall see about the others. I candled the two pea eggs and a couple turkey eggs quickly- looks ike none of the turkey eggs started but the pea eggs sure did!

Can't wait to see pictures of everyone new babies. I go into lock down on Tuesday. I've candled the eggs and most now are too dark to see anything. That is a good thing?

Well, as soon as the humidity is right, it is lock down time! I'm crossing my fingers and hoping. This time I've been way hands off compared to the first time, with probably worse odds. I'm chalking that up to egg handling and egg porosity. The other two batches look better, so maybe our second round will go better.
