Martinsburg, WV Chickenstock Sept 8th 2012

Thank you Ronnie and Carol for making our swap a success. Everyone sold something and we had a good time. Thankfully the rain held off. I sure caught it coming home though.

Your welcome Gootziecat. Thank you and everyone else who came out and made it a success. I walked around and talked with all the vendors and everyone seemed to be doing well. I had all my stuff loaded up by the time the rain came but got soaked helping some of the other vendors loading up. We had a very good turn out and a nice variety of birds show up. There will be another swap in Clearbrook, VA Sept 29 at Clearbrook Feed & Supply I won't have any birds for sale there but will be swinging by to help out where I can. The information for that swap can be found at www.poultrybarn.net as well as here on BYC at https://www.backyardchickens.com/forum/newestpost/699310

May the road rise up to meet you, may the wind be ever at your back May the sun shine warm upon your face and the rain fall softly on your fields. And until we meet again, may God hold you in the hollow of his hands :)

WOW, what an AWESOME Chickenstock we had.

People came from all over. Several from over a 100 miles away. We had two rows this time and one of the biggest Chickenstocks ever. Great variety and wonderful people. Vendors were still setting up mid morning, but everyone I talked to sold a bunch and were happy.
Chickenstock is proof that the best things in life are free! We got a BEAUTIFUL little MF Bantam Cochin from Danny and swapped a Royal Palm for a couple White Guinea. What a deal!

We got home to pouring rain and empty pens.

Thanks soooooo much to Ronnie and everyone else who helped make this Chickenstock a huge success, especially all the vendors, new and old. Please keep an eye open for the next chicken event. We'll keep you updated. I think there will be an Oct. Poultrygeist in Ranson at Gower's too.

Ya'll come!

I got there at 9am after a 3.5hr drive and there was nothing I was after. Not one true Ameraucanas and only 2 MF bantam Cochin cockerels. =(

I apologize for that. I guess the early birds got the worms on that one. I only seen a few vendors with nice quality pure Ameraucanas and they were sold out within a half hour of the swap opening. All hens went fast I sold every hen and pullet I took. That's a bummer you drove all that way and the birds you were looking for were not there :( I wish you the best in finding some and if I hear anything about either of those breeds I will be sure to let you know.

I bought the last Amerauccana from Chicken Junkie But I got there at 7:50 am She also sold me 2 polish/silkie frizzes..My first chickens and my first Swap....thanks to you all I had such a good time and met so many nice people.

I brought 3 purebred buff Ameraucanas to the swap. But in all fairness, only one was even close to the breeder quality you are looking for, plus wrong color. I know how frustrating it must have been for you, Revyvaughn, but it has happened to all of us at one time or another. I hope you find what you're looking for soon.

So sorry you didn't find what you wanted. I know there were at least 3 people besides myself with Ameraucanas at the meet. 2 of them had some really nice ones too. I sold out as soon as the swap opened and I know one of the other breeders was sold out and left within an hour. I came home with a few Serama roos. As a seller, it was a great swap.

As for the Bantam Cochins, there were a couple breeders with them for sure. I know the one breeder had some nice stock, cause I bought a beautiful MF pullet from him, just what I was looking for.

I saw a trio of Millies, some blacks, blues, some roos and a few buff Cochins as well. I know they were at the swap, they must have sold early.

We've driven miles for nothing too, and understand how you feel.

Speaking of Cochins did you guys see that giant cockerel Kat had. I've never seen a Cochin so big.
