Sick Pea Chick Died - Going to Vet School For Necropsy - Will Post Results

If the water is actually in a bowl, you can try a pet water dish that has a wider base. They have a hard time tipping those. If it's a poultry water dish, I have put them inside a pet water dish to make them harder to tip.

And now that everyone probably thinks my little pea lives in filth, I should clarify. I do change out the paper towels and fluff up the litter underneath them, but the litter itself is staying pretty clean. It does get a little damp around the water, if it gets wet I remove the wet spots and replace as necessary.

Do you all think that our healthy birds drink 8 ounces of water a day?

I saw a link somewhere that said how much a bird should get based on weight... I'll look for that link, then it will be up to you and Frosty to do the math;)

FYI, my very sick, blind hen drinks almost two cups a day and weighs 2lb 12oz.

LOL @ up to us to do the math. More like Frosty doing the math. Frosty is the scientist behind the math. ;)

Hope that you can find the link.

Yes Frosty, you are right. My girl started eating and drinking on her own. And I have also been hand feeding it when I get home. When I was dosing, I was giving 6 mls/ccs two times a day. Just found out from LSU pharmacy, I wasn't giving enough. :/

Be VERY careful if you are trying to force feed her liquid. If you give too much, too fast they will sometimes throw up and aspirate it. It's also possible to have it go done the wrong hole. Either results in probable death.
