Come Hatch along with Us!!! Setting Oct12-Oct 20th

Come ya'll old hatchers, and ya'll newbies If you are hatching anything from approximately Oct 11 to Oct 23 or around there hatch with us!!!
We all will learn a lot.See some cute chick pics and have a lot of excitment going on among us as our hatch days arrive.

We need each others as after all who else cares to hear about pasty butt but us hatchers? LOL
(Family:"pasty butt???? guck dont talk about that GROSS stuff . Who cares about stupid chickens?!" )

But WE BYCers CARE!!!

If we can think of it lets put what day of hatch we are on in the posts so none of us replying back have to ask that info over and over the whole 21 days.
Plus for newbies to the hatch threads it helps to know what day you are on if there is a problem.


My story is....had ticks this spring....wanted a few chickens...now fall has come and 22 chickens/chicks later i swore off hatching until spring...but as all addicted hatchers....I was good about 2 weeks then caved last night and bought some BBS Orp eggs on Ebay when i found yesterday my one lone 11 week old black Orp chick is a roo. He needs a girlfriend!!!
Eggs due to arrive Oct 16ish

My bator is a Genesis. I run it in my closet for draft control and set it at 45 humidity,75 in lockdown.Temp 99.5-100.2
Hatching BBS Orp shipped eggs.
Shipped eggs are rarely a generous hatch but Im optimistic and hope to get 3 to 5 chicks of the 12 eggs
They are coming a long way so i am a little leery how it will turn out but no heat to be shipped in now so ...who knows?.

I'm in. Setting set #3 for october on 10/17. Assorted eggs mutts, jersey giants, and whatever else i come accross between now and then LOL. Total numbers tbd.

This set will be cooked in my buddy's gqf cabinet incubator

Great! glad to have you. I saw you last hatch .Did you hatch theose chicks yet or still coming?How did it go? Shipped or local or your own?Should do really well with that GDF.Is that what the ones you have in now are in?

Ive hatched out one set already of 30 chicks, those were done in the gqf.i have one set still up there, 2 sets going in my home built coolerbator right now and the next set is going back to my buddys gqf. the first 3 sets have been all my own eggs. second set in the coolerbator now is a mix of mine and local eggs. Set for next week is still tbd.

No shipped /sounds like you are gonna have a bunch of little babies in every bator!I get the shipped and boy dont get much if any.
How many didnt hatch last time.? 30 chciks and ? how many quiters. curious.
They were your own.?
I cant wait until next spring when i can use my own eggs. Right now i need a roo to get older Rgit now I havwe used shipped in 8 hatches(9 now) and due to the low hatch rate my chicks are some of the most expensive chicks running around Missouri HAHA.

Yeah thats what ive heard about shipped eggs. 1 blood ringed, i think 5 or so were no goes. Yes all my own. Lots of cute mutt chicks lol

ive got 36 cooking in 2 sets here, got some at the store shouldn't be too far out from hatching, up to 18 for next week and waiting on a dozen rir's. the egg hunt continues. LOL

Well think i already made a mistake...had eggsshipped and forgot to check with the po to see if they came.sent Thursday so now sits and extra day there guck

Im setting eggs tonight! Will know how many after the hens lay today. Have 16 saved already... I have a batch in one incubator already thats on day 6...
The eggs are from my Barred Rocks, 5 hens n Rocky the roo.. lol. Im using an old Hova Bator that my parents had years ago..
